Fusion Series: 2-sensor multi-spectral/HDR area scan cameras
JAI’s multi-spectral prism cameras perform both visible and near-infrared (NIR) inspection simultaneously, by splitting incoming light to two separate sensors - a visible color channel from 400-700nm and an NIR channel from 750-900+nm.
This makes it possible to use a single camera to simultaneously inspect both visible elements and sub-surface defects or other information that is optimally detected at NIR wavelengths.
The multi-spectral cameras are ideal for inspecting currency, textiles, circuit boards, and organic items such as fruit and vegetables.
High Dynamic Range (HDR) cameras also split light to two separate sensors (color or monochrome), but in this case, the imagers are used to provide two separate exposures (shutter speed and/or gain can be set independently for each channel), which are then fused together in the camera or in post-processing.
In this way, details in both bright and dark areas can be properly captured, extending the camera’s dynamic range to nearly twice the dynamic range of a standard CCD.
