The GO-5100MP-PGE is a compact industrial polarization area scan camera built around Sony’s IMX250MZR polarized CMOS sensor. It features 5.1 MP resolution, a frame rate of 22 fps and an innovative 4-way polarizing wire-grid design creating a range of new imaging possibilities in industrial machine vision, traffic imaging and surveillance.
Each image pixel incorporates one of four separate polarizing nano wire grids angled at 0°, 45°, 90°, and 135° arranged in a regular pattern across the sensor. Thus, each block of four pixels can be used as a calculation block to determine the angle and intensity of light in a scene.
In-camera processing algorithms calculate polarization angle (AoLP) and percentage of total light that is polarized (DoLP) so that host resources can be devoted to other application processing tasks.
The GO-5100MP-PGE is equipped with a standard GigE Vision interface. It can provide full resolution 8-bit output at 22 frames per second over cable lengths up to 100 meters. 10-bit and 12-bit output is also supported.

The PD-6U power supply can be used to power most Go Series and Go-X Series cameras as an alternative to powering over the data interface. The power supply is RoHS compliant and conforms to key EMI and EMS standards. It is available in two versions:
With 6-pin Hirose connector to camera With flying leads that can be wired to the power lines on a separate I/O cable (see 6P-02S for an example of such a cable)
Both models feature U.S. style wall plugs. The power supply converts 50 Hz to 60 Hz AC input to 12V DC (1.3A) output.

Tripod adapter features mounting holes with 20 mm spacing to fit bottom mounting holes on Go Series and Go-X Series housings. (Note: can be used with top mounting holes on Go-X Series models with Pregius S sensors.)
Standard 1/4-20 attachment to tripods. Includes M3 screws (Depth 5). Only use the supplied screws or other screws having the proper length. Using longer screws can damage internal circuit boards.

The HR10A-7P-6S is a universal connector used for power and control signals for most JAI Go Series and Go-X Series cameras and can also be used with serial communication (RS-232C) connectors on some CV Series models. The connector is a female plug, with sockets, that mates to the connector on the back of the camera. It has soldering cups for easy assembly of custom cables.
The Go Series polarization cameras are the ideal industrial area scan cameras for a wide range of applications in machine vision, traffic and surveillance.
Internal material stress “frozen-in” during manufacturing of glass and plastics can be problematic. Inspection systems for bottles, eyewear, window glass, etc. can benefit from GO-5100MP-PGE polarization camera.
Scratches, dents and inclusions in finished glass are often easier to detect by analyzing polarized light. Inspection systems for window glass, bottles, eyewear, and lenses can benefit from the GO-5100MP-PGE camera.
The GO-5100MP-PGE can be used in vision systems inspecting blister packages, vials, ampoules and other pharmaceutical items with shiny surfaces to identify damaged/incomplete packaging or foreign objects.
The GO-5100MP-PGE can eliminate unwanted glare and reflections from car windshields making it possible to better see inside the cabin for better facial recognition and to provide better evidence in the case of seatbelt or mobile phone use violations.
The food and beverage industries are very sensitive to foreign objects in the finished food packages or drink bottles. Polarized imaging with the GO-5100MP-PGE can be a new method for food inspection systems to better detect foreign objects.
Some of the challenges in imaging in outdoor surveillance situations are changing light conditions and disturbing reflections and glare. Surveillance applications can benefit from the polarized area scan camera’s ability to remove unwanted reflections improving image analysis and object detection.
An inspection system with a polarization camera such as the GO-5100MP-PGE can be used to detect geometrical orientation of construction materials such as fiber composites. This can be useful in the research of new materials or in quality inspection in manufacturing processes.
Polarized imaging can be used to inspect the quality of spray painted surfaces in e.g., the automotive and furniture industry, looking for unwanted scratches, dust spots or uneven paint layers.
