What is a multi-sensor, prism area scan camera?

In a multi-sensor, prism-based area scan camera, incoming light is split into separate color channels using a dichroic prism and directed onto individual monochrome sensors. All sensors share a common optical path, ensuring that each pixel in every color channel corresponds to the exact same point in the scene at the same time.
Unlike Bayer-based area scan cameras, which reconstruct color from a single sensor using interpolation, prism-based area scan cameras capture full-resolution color information simultaneously. This results in highly accurate color reproduction, improved image quality, and consistent performance, even in applications requiring precise detail and stable imaging conditions.

While Bayer technology uses interpolation to estimate RGB values, prism technology separates incoming light to three precisely aligned sensors so that true RGB values can be captured for each pixel.
