Pick your preferred interface to connect

JAI offers a range of different interfaces, so you are able to choose the interface of your preference for each individual vision task. The digital industry standard interfaces available from JAI are:

Digital interfaces where the camera connects directly to the computer:

- GigE Vision
- USB3 Vision

Digital interfaces where the camera connects to a frame grabber:

- Camera Link
- CoaXpress

All the latest generations of JAI cameras are GenICam (Generic Interface for Cameras) compliant. GenICam provides a generic programming interface for all kinds of cameras, no matter what hardware interface technology is used or what features are implemented. The objective of GenICam is to have the same application programming interface (API) used throughout the industry.

As part of the decision process in finding the interface that fits your application best, bandwidth and cable length must be considered. The tables below give you a brief overview of bandwidths and maximum cable lengths of the different interface types supported by JAI.
