GigE Vision cameras

JAI is a leading proponent of GigE Vision®, an advanced camera interface standard developed using the Gigabit Ethernet communication protocol.

JAI maintains a large offering of cameras which are compliant with GigE Vision and the related GenICam standard, providing for fast image transfer using low cost standard cables over very long lengths, as well as self-describing cameras and multi-vendor interoperability.

GigE Vision offers many benefits including:

  • High bandwidth (1000 Mbps) allows large uncompressed images to be transferred quickly in real time
  • Uncompromised data transfer up to 100 meters in length
  • Standard gigabit Ethernet hardware allows single/multiple camera connection to single/multiple computers
  • Low cost cables (CAT5e or CAT6) and standard connectors
  • Highly scalable to follow the growth of Ethernet bandwidth. As 10GigE becomes mainstream, GigE Vision will be the fastest connection in the industry
  • Standard hardware, cables allow easy, low cost integration

Supporting JAI's GigE Vision cameras is the JAI GigE Vision SDK and Control Tool, a robust, vendor independent software package provided free of charge for evaluations, prototyping or full system development. The JAI SDK and Control Tool lets customers easily test and compare JAI cameras, as well as cameras from other GigE Vision compliant vendors.
