Staff Accountant / Cost Accountant

 

Overview:
JAI
is a leading manufacturer of cameras used in vision applications and also a leading supplier of imaging sub-systems for traffic applications.

The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Corporate Controller for financial decision-making information by collecting, analyzing, and reporting cost data.

Responsibilities:
Essential job functions include

  • Credit & Collection
    • Manage the activities of collection for domestic and international customers.
    • Communicate and work closely with customers to facilitate smooth and timely invoicing and customer payment processing.
    • Work closely with internal sales, operations and with strategic customers to closely monitor and facilitate timely cash payments
    • Manage and collect necessary data for management to support the evaluation of customers for the extension of credit within established credit policy
    • Identify and analyze high-risk accounts, prepare monthly reports with recommendations to management for improving ongoing credit & collection management processes while maintaining customer relations
    • Plan and maintain a program for the systematic follow-up and collection of receivables.
    • Oversee analysis of accounts receivable, aging of accounts to determine overdue accounts and collection procedures.
    • Handle special credit arrangements and problem collection accounts.
    • Facilitate timely and accurate processing of orders and invoicing of customers as needed to support accuracy and effective collection management.
    • Assure company-wide process compliance, and make process improvements for efficiency, control and effectiveness.
  • Cost Function
    • Guides cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures
    • Determines cost of operations by establishing standard costs; collecting operational data.
    • Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and materials.
    • Confirms costs by collecting, interpreting, and reporting data.
    • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
    • Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • General Ledger
    • Analyze financial information, conduct account reconciliation and monthly closing. Maintain audit trails for assigned accounts and document each transaction.
    • Track cash activity at bank, update cash flow, report current cash status to Corporate Controller
    • Review and finalize cash applications for US, Canada and Europe accounts receivable
    • Clear bank (USD) AP checks weekly for each company code
    • Check and ensure all reverse entries have been accurately reversed
    • Prepare and enter various general entries for month end close
    • Complete various analyses during the month
    • Complete monthly account reconciliations
    • Prepare and enter GL adjustments as needed
    • Compile data, report inventory and sales data on a monthly basis
    • End of year adjustments and journal entries
    • Assist in compiling files for audit

Minimum Requirements

  • 5 years in accounting or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in relevant field.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9000 environment.
  • Experience working with SAP is desirable
  • U.S. Citizen
