Sales Manager North/East Germany

Job Description

As JAI’s Sales Manager you combine technical knowledge with strong sales skills to provide advice and support on our area and line scan Machine Vision camera technology. You are a key technical and business point of contact for clients and JAI’s international sales team and provide both pre- and after-sales advice. You liaise regularly with other members of the sales team and colleagues from a range of departments, such as product management, marketing, research, development, design, purchasing, production and quality, as well as senior company managers.

The position is home-office based. Alternatively, you can operate from JAI’s sales and service office in Grosswallstadt. The position will require excessive travelling within your sales territory (mainly) as well as within the overall EMEA region (from time to time).

The core of your territory is Northern and East Germany. You should preferably reside within this area or close to Grosswallstadt.

In addition, you will also manage JAI’s sales in Czechia and Slovakia and will closely cooperate with and support JAI’s Sales Manager covering Southern Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Your will report directly to the VP Sales EMEA.

Work Activities

Tasks typically involve:

  • Searching for new clients who benefit from JAI’s products and maximising client potential in designated regions (territory) based on detailed value proposition and target market information provided by JAI Marketing in close cooperation with the JAI’s sales team and the VP Sales EMEA.
  • Visiting potential and existing customers and distributers.
  • Providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education, and after-sales support services to customers, distributors and the sales team.
  • Developing long-term relationships with clients and partners through managing and interpreting their requirements and expectations.
  • Convincing clients that JAI’s cameras best satisfy their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery and win the sale.
  • Supporting and driving distributors in successfully focussing on JAI product sales.
  • Negotiating contract terms and conditions to meet both client and JAI’s needs.
  • Calculating client quotations and administering client accounts.
  • Preparing reports for VP Sales EMEA.
  • Meeting and exceeding sales targets and coordinating sales projects.
  • Supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events.
  • Making technical presentations and demonstrating how a product meets client’s needs.
  • Liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts.
  • Following and report about industry trends.
  • Providing input to the specification of new products developments.
  • Providing training and producing support material for other members of the sales team.
  • And other duties as maybe reasonably requested by your line manager from time to time.

Knowledge and Experience Required

Education:
Min. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific discipline or alternatively a business discipline combined with good technical experience / training.

Experiences and Skills:

  • Good track record in successfully selling into the machine vision industry.
  • Experience in direct B2B sales and management of distributors.
    familiar in usage and operation of industrial CCD/CMOS cameras.
  • Understanding of basic image processing.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Excellent management of customers and distributor.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong long term relationships.
  • Good presentation abilities in one-to-one situations as well as front of larger groups;planning and tracking customer activities using CRM tools.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office tools (Windows OS, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Fluent in German and English language.
