JAI CCD/CMOS cameras for sports and entertainment systems:JAI’s area and line scan cameras are increasingly being used for special vision applications in sports and entertainment. In sports, our customers use JAI 20 megapixel cameras (Spark SP-20000 series) in complete stadium video systems, enabling special multi-angle video streaming for an enhanced TV viewing experience and more.
Multi-angle video streaming technology opens up a 360 degree (3D) viewing angle of any moment of sports or entertainment events, enabling hovering in wide shots from one side of the action to another, suitable for creating replays of special moments in a sports game, concert, or similar event.
Replays in 3D provide new dimensions in showing and describing tactical play, enhancing the TV viewing experience, but these systems can also serve as a new tool in tactical training, player tracking/analysis, and game debriefing situations at both team and individual levels.Useful data for player improvement could be, for example, running performance, average and maximum speed, number and intensity of sprints, distance covered and more.
Advancement in our customers’ systems and broadcast technology will eventually mean that TV viewing becomes more interactive where viewers can request replays of selected moments and one day perhaps even individually control the viewing angle via live streams.
JAI’s quality camera components are in high demand for these kinds of vision systems due to high quality images and exceptional reliability of our cameras. Our cameras are also increasingly being used for sports finish line imaging and in systems dedicated to special effects in movie making and green screen productions, giving film producers new and creative possibilities for visual effects. JAI has joined forces with Replay Technologies to provide television viewers with an innovative way to experience the most important moments in major sporting events. The revolutionary system, called freeD™ (free dimensional) by Replay Technologies was deployed at the Super Bowl. The system utilized 36 of JAI’s Spark Series SP-20000 20-megapixel cameras mounted around the upper level of the stadium to continuously capture the action from every angle. High speed cameras like the Spark Series SP-5000, line scan cameras from JAI's Sweep and Sweep+ Series, and the small and versatile GO-5000 camera from JAI's Go Series are some of the other cameras that have been utilized for sports-related applications.
