The industry's best camera technology
JAI’s in-house developed traffic cameras are high performance progressive scan and Ethernet cameras with a built-in image capture / storage function and image processing software using a built-in PowerPC processor.

JAI has designed these cameras specifically for traffic enforcement and tolling applications, using state-of-the-art CCD and CMOS sensors. The advantage is top-of-the-line technical integration with other system components such as light sensors, flash illumination and image capturing processes. The benefits for traffic authorities worldwide are highly stable systems giving more “up-time” and lower maintenance costs.

Selected cameras (TS-2030EN and TSC-2030EN) are available with megapixel 16:9 formats, making it possible to cover the full traffic lane with one camera. This means that fewer cameras are needed to perform the same task, which again means lower installation and maintenance costs.

The new TS-4032EN and TSC-4032EN cameras provide over 3 megapixels of resolution -- enabling them to cover a full traffic lane with a vertical field of view of 12 feet (3.7m). They also incorporate zero smear sensor technology for maximum data capture, and are designed to work in combination with JAI's patented light sensor technology to deliver up to 139 dB in total system dynamic range.

Most JAI traffic cameras perform internal JPEG compression, and all cameras offer automatic FTP transmission of captured images to a file server, internal clock synchronization via the Network Time Protocol (NTP), and stamp each image taken with date/time and user-definable image identifier text strings.

Captures rapidly moving vehicles
JAI’s traffic cameras utilize state-of the-art progressive scan sensors and triggering technology to instantly capture images of vehicles at the most readable point in the field of view, with no field-to-field imaging delays.

Progressive scanning allows the cameras to capture a rapidly moving vehicle (up to 327 km/h) at high resolution without the need for a mechanical shutter. This makes JAI’s camera technology especially suitable for Open Road Tolling.

JAI cameras are delivered complete with zoom lens, antiglare filter and interface circuitry in a heated weather-proof enclosure.
Because the cameras have no mechanical moving parts (unlike those that rely on auto-iris lenses), it is a very robust solution for all traffic enforcement and traffic management applications.

Open communications platform
JAI cameras use an open communications platform (serial port) and can communicate with any known subsystem. The benefit of hardware-independent technology is lower integration costs and a future-proof technology platform.
